How to Uninstall Antivirus Software Completely
Antivirus products install kernel drivers and protected services, so a standard uninstall sometimes leaves fragments that block the next product. Here is the complete process.

Standard removal
Settings → Apps → Installed apps, find the product, choose Uninstall, and follow the wizard. Disable any self-protection or tamper protection setting inside the product first if the uninstall is refused.
Vendor removal tools
Every major vendor publishes a cleanup utility for exactly this situation: Norton Remove and Reinstall, McAfee MCPR, avastclear, AVG Clear, the ESET Uninstaller, Bitdefender's Uninstall Tool and Kaspersky's kavremover. Download them from the vendor's own support pages.

Safe Mode as a last resort
Boot into Safe Mode and run the vendor tool there. With most drivers unloaded, removal generally succeeds.
Confirm you are still protected
After rebooting, open Windows Security and check that Microsoft Defender has re-enabled real-time protection. A machine with no registered antivirus and Defender still stood down is the worst possible state.
