An unusually small cloud-based client with journaling-based rollback.
Webroot takes a different architectural approach from most antivirus products: instead of shipping large local signature databases, it uses a tiny client that classifies files against a cloud service and journals the actions of unknown programs so they can be rolled back if they later turn out to be malicious.
The result is an extremely small installer and very fast scans. The trade-off is that Webroot depends more on connectivity and its results in traditional laboratory tests have been harder to compare against signature-based products.
